During August 09 East UTTAR PRADESH and BIHAR, India had some rain fall but due heavy rainfall in Nepal almost all the rivers in east UP and Bihar were flooded and affecting so many districts like wise Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Basti, SK Nagar, Kushinagar LakhimpurKhiri, SiddharthNagar, Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Ballia in UP and Samastipur, Seetamarhi, Muzaffarpur etc in Bihar.
POORVANCHAL GRAMIN VIKASH SANSTHAN (PGVS) having its mandate to respond disasters in U.P. & Bihar had launched an immediate assessment & rapid to the situation at the outset of the flooding in one of the worstaffected areas of Eastern UP and Northern Bihar.
Based on the findings, PGVS targeted relief efforts on 2000 families living with no adequate access to clean water, families drinking from contaminated sources; young children with high cases of diarrhea, fever, dehydration and malnutrition; and no safe spaces or specialized resources for vulnerable women, youth or children.
