Key Themes & Functions

PGVS has commitments towards service provision, policy advocacy, awareness raising, Capacity building and addressing environmental concerns for the communities and its leadership in disaster management, primarily in the provision of health services, education, and livelihoods. In pursuing these goals, we commit ourselves to address the problems of disasters and climate change adaptation from a development perspective by Facilitate integration of Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) & Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the lifestyles of the vulnerable community and key stakeholders and  incorporating and mainstreaming the culture of disaster preparedness and mitigation in all our development work so as to minimize vulnerabilities and risks in the face of hazards, which works as a motivator in all its future plans. The role and mandate of the PGVS, being an implementing agency, provide it with the unique position and niche, which allows connecting the Adaptive Risk Reduction and Capacity Enhancement for Community Based  Flood  Early  Warning  and  DRR  A Trans Border Approach  with the on-going development and disaster risk reduction efforts in the state, as the PGVS works through its committees and local government at district and state levels.

PGVS also focus  on DRR and Climate Change Adaptation through strengthening services on WASH, Livelihood and public health related issues through cluster approach, and we had adopted process for effective implementation of these issues in operational areas like community mobilization & capacity building through training and equipment supports, demonstration of best practices, developing DRR plan and integrated Panchayat level plan and also ensured community based advocacy for accessibility of existing schemes.
